3D Scanning Project
Created for [Client Name], circa 2023
This semi-automatic pipe coiler was the final product of a turn-key project from 2025. It was a reimagining of an older pipe coiling machine that required muiltiple employees to operate. Engineered, built, and tested 100% in-house, and installed on-site by SDS technicians.

[Cool Facts]
Pipe coils are wound around reusable (steel?) drums that are placed on top of the center of the coiler. These drums remain on the coil after winding is complete, allowing them to slide smoothly off the coiling wheel. The assembly doors open outward for easy removal.
Completed coils are then packaged for transport. They can contain up to 5500 feet of pipe, have a diameter of 120 inches, and weigh up to 1200 pounds.
The pipes are used as weatherproof housing for underground cables like fiber optic lines.
